Be careful what you wish for.
Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's "cockeyed fairytale" features Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and the Witch — a lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.
At its heart are a Baker and his Wife who wish to have a child, a girl who wishes to attend the King's festival, and a boy who wishes his cow would give milk. To break a witch's curse, they set off into the woods — and wind up changed forever.

Every story begins with a wish. In the woods, each one tangles with the next — and no one comes out quite the same.
